Vulcana Materials on Display at Cooper-Hewitts 2010 Triennial

January 8, 2010

Vulcana materials have been chosen to be on display at the Cooper-Hewitt Museums Triennial 2010.

Triennial 2010: Why Design Now? (May 2010–January 2011), the fourth installment of Cooper-Hewitt’s Triennial exhibition series, recognizes the most creative and forward-thinking designs of the past three years. The first Triennial exhibition with a truly international scope, Why Design Now? examines the ways in which design thinking is solving some of today’s most urgent problems; what draws thinkers, makers, and problem-solvers to this crucial field of discovery; and why business leaders, policy makers, and citizens are embracing design values. A survey of key developments across design disciplines, the exhibition will feature solutions by approximately one hundred designers whose works promote environmental stewardship, social equity, heath, education, accessibility, and creative capital.

The exhibition is organized around eight principles: Energy—the latest innovations in energy-harvesting technologies. Mobility—transportation and integrated systems that keep us moving more efficiently. Community—architecture that enhances social and environmental well-being in a range of scales. Materials—experimental, eco-effective resources for designers. Prosperity—design promoting viable economic vitality in our communities. Healthaddressing social and medical concerns for all. Communicationproducts that meet the challenge of disseminating information in a variety of formats to diverse groups. Simplicityobjects that express pure function with minimal material to meet everyday needs. Triennial 2010 presents the latest advances in design in a broadly accessible format to engage museum visitors.
